Meaning "Weapon of my Grandfather's
Father" the instrument was created Lirio Salvador, a native
of the Philippines, using found objects.
It
is played like a cello, though it sounds nothing like one. The resonators
are made from mixing bowls, and is amplified by a magnetic pickup.
The "Sandata ng
lolo ni tatay" is one of the instruments used by his band Elemento,
which plays oriental industrial noise and experimental music
